Fibonacci’s Arc, Oregon Institute of Technology

My Fibonacci’s Arc is inspired by the Fibonacci sequence, a series of numbers that illustrate the unfurling spiral of growth found in nature. The Arc is fabricated from twelve 1/2-inch-thick layers of plate steel. Its 22,000 pound mass is layered like an onion— six inches thick at the bottom and half an inch thick at the tip. The Arc is oriented toward Crater Lake, 50 miles north of OIT as the crow flies.
